 World Youth Skills Day 2021

World Youth Skills Day 2021: The main goal of this day is to equip young people around the world with essential skills for employment, work, and entrepreneurship.

World Youth Skills Day, observed annually on July 15, focuses on the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.

The main goal of this day is to equip young people around the world with essential skills for employment, work, and entrepreneurship. This day is meant to commemorate, acknowledge and celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship. World Youth Skills Day 2021 will again take place in a challenging context due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

World Youth Skills Day: History

In December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring July 15 as World Youth Skills Day with the goal of achieving better socio-economic conditions for today's youth as a means to address the challenge of unemployment and underemployment.

Since then, World Youth Skills Day events have provided a unique opportunity for dialogue between young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, firms, employers’ and workers’ organizations, policymakers, and development partners.

World Youth Skills Day 2021: Celebration

World Youth Skills Day 2021 will celebrate the resilience and creativity of youth throughout the crisis. A virtual event, organized by the Permanent Missions of Sri Lanka and Portugal to the UN, the Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth, UNESCO, and ILO, will offer an opportunity to reflect on skills that are needed today and for the future.

The best way to commemorate this World Youth Skills Day will be to introspect, ideate and debate how we can hasten the skilling needs of young countries like India with an ever-increasing working population.
