By LAKSHY DREAM FOUNDATION GLOBAL NEWS: A Howrah-Duronto Express going from Bengaluru to Kolkata was stopped at Kuppam station in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district after smoke started emanating from one of the coaches on Sunday afternoon.
According to the South Western Railway, when train no 12246 Howrah Duronto Express was approaching Kuppam station, the train manager (guard) noticed smoke emanating from one of the coaches around 12.50pm.
The train manager issued an alert and passengers got off the train.
As per standard operating procedure, the train was stopped and checked by the train crew. Earlier, it was reported that a fire broke out inside the train. However, after investigation, officials clarified that there was a brake binding and smoke started coming out due to friction of the brake block in S9 coach.
