Israel strikes back with Operation Iron Swords in Gaza after massive Hamas attack

Israel has initiated 'Operation Iron Swords', launching airstrikes against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip using multiple fighter jets.

Israel has announced 'Operation Iron Swords' against Hamas militants after declaring a 'state of war'. The Israel Air Force has launched an attack with dozens of fighter jets targeting the Palestinian militant outfit Hamas in the Gaza Strip in several locations.

“It was a combined ground raid which happened through paragliders, through the sea and through the ground. Right now we’re fighting. We’re fighting in certain locations around the Gaza Stripâ€æ our forces are now fighting on the ground," Israel army spokesperson told media.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video statement, asserting his country "will win" the war.

“We are at war, and we will win... Our enemy will pay a price the type of which it has never known,” Netanyahu said in a video statement.

After a security cabinet meeting at the Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, stated that Hamas had "made a grave mistake" by launching the attack.

The Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said that the Palestinian militant group has started a war and also asserted that “Israel will win.”

According to Israeli media, six people have been killed and about 200 wounded in Israel in the latest round of attack. At least two dozen of the injured are seriously or critically wounded, a report at 2 pm stated.

Israel declared a 'state of war' on Saturday morning after Hamas launched around 5,000 rockets from Gaza in a biggest attack on Israel in years. Multiple armed militants from the group also infiltrated into Israel by crossing the border.
