Didn’t say sanghi is a bad word’

At the audio launch of Laal Salaam, Aishwarya Rajinikanth said that her father is not a 'sanghi' as people claim.

The political and ideological allegiance of Rajinikanth is one of the much-debated topics down South. While the actor is a self-proclaimed Hindu devotee, it is unclear whether he supports Hindutva politics. However, he has been criticised for leaning towards such politics. Contrary to this belief, his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth,

at the audio launch of Laal Salaam, said that her father is not a ‘sanghi’ like everyone thinks. “If he is a Sanghi, he wouldn’t have accepted to be part of Laal Salam,” she said. When asked about her statement, Rajinikanth, at the Chennai airport, said, “She didn’t say Sanghi is a bad word anywhere.”

He added, “Her perspective is that while Appa is someone who is a spiritual person, why are people calling him that? There’s nothing else to it.” He was then asked about Laal Salam, and Rajini said, “It is about religious harmony. It has come out well. You should watch it.”
