Kartik Aaryan launches Chandu Champion trailer in hometown Gwalior days after losing relatives: ‘Lot is happening in life, but…’

Kartik Aaryan’s relatives Manoj Chansoria and Anita Chansoria were among the 16 people, who died in the tragic hoarding collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Monday.

Embracing the philosophy of never giving up from his film Chandu Champion, Kartik Aaryan on Saturday launched the trailer of his upcoming feature drama in his hometown Gwalior, days after his relatives died in the hoarding collapse in Mumbai.

Kartik Aaryan’s relatives Manoj Chansoria and Anita Chansoria were among the 16 people, who died in the tragic hoarding collapse in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Monday. Their bodies were recovered two days later on Wednesday in ‘almost decomposed’ state.

Despite dealing with the tragedy and being present for the couple’s funeral few days ago, Kartik was with his Chandu Champion team, director Kabir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, in his hometown on Saturday.

The Captain Roop Singh Cricket stadium in the city was packed with fans of the actor, who started assembling at the venue hours before it officially kicked off. As Kartik Aaryan came on stage with fireworks and chants of his local fan, the actor also touched upon the tragedy he is privately battling.

When asked how he felt launching the trailer in his hometown, Kartik said, “This is a dream come true moment for me. This is where I had dreamt to be an actor and to bring the toughest film of my career here is incredibly special. Mentally how am I feeling? Kaafi kuch chal raha hai meri life mein (lots going on in life) but the show must go on. I’m just fortunate that all of you could join us for the trailer launch of the film here,” he said as the crowd of more than a thousand cheered for him.

Chandu Champion is directed by Kabir Khan, who has penned the film along with Sumit Arora and Rohit Shukre. The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It is inspired by the life of India’s first paralympics swimmer Murlikant Petkar and stars Kartik Aaryan in the titular role.

Chandu Champion is set to release on June 14 and will be the first film of the year for Kartik, who will also be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
