Earthquakes are happening one after the other in India. There is hardly any month in which there is no earthquake. Earthquake tremors were felt in many parts of the country including Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh late on Tuesday night. According to the National Center for Seismology, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.3 and its epicenter was 10 kilometers below the ground in Nepal.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 was felt in Chhattisgarh on 28 July 2022, in which five people were seriously injured.

On the other hand, on 28 March 2021, there was an earthquake in Assam whose intensity was measured at 6.0. Two people were killed and 12 were injured in this. The history of earthquakes in India does not end here.

On 24 July 2019, Maharashtra was hit by a 4.1 magnitude earthquake in which one person lost his life.

Also, on September 12, 2018, one person was killed and 25 people were injured in Assam's earthquake, when the magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 5.3.

A similar earthquake occurred in India-Bangladesh on 4 January 2016 with a magnitude of 5.7, in which three people were killed and eight were injured.

On the other hand, on October 26, 2015, there was a simultaneous earthquake in India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, in which 399 people were killed and 2,536 were injured.

There was a terrible earthquake in India and Nepal on March 25, 2015. The earth was shaking for a long time, 21,952 were injured and 8,964 were killed in this earthquake of 7.8 magnitude.

In 2005, the earthquake in Kashmir caused terrible devastation. There was an earthquake of 7.6 magnitude in Kashmir including Pakistan. In that earthquake, 130,000 people died in both the countries. On January 26, 2001, the Bhuj earthquake in Gujarat killed 20,000 people, as well as completely destroyed houses and buildings.

How do earthquakes happen?

The main reason for the occurrence of earthquakes is the collision of plates inside the earth. There are seven plates inside the earth which keep on rotating continuously. When these plates collide at some point, a fault line zone is formed there and the corners of the surface are folded. Due to the cornering of the surface, pressure builds up there and the plates start breaking. Due to the breakdown of these plates, the energy inside finds a way to come out, due to which the earth shakes and we consider it as an earthquake.
