'Who is next?': Union Minister's swipe at Arvind Kejriwal after AAP MP's arrest

Taking a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government following party MP Sanjay Singh’s arrest in the liquor policy scam, Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday said the deputy chief minister of Delhi and others have landed up in jail in connection with an excise policy case and the turn of its 'kingpin', who is still out, will also come.
Talking to reporters at the Swami Vivekananda airport in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur, Thakur targeted the AAP, claiming that those who were elected to power by raising the slogan of ‘India against corruption' have now been found steeped in corruption.
The Union youth affairs and sports minister had arrived in Raipur to attend a few events.
AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday evening after being questioned for over 10 hours at his Delhi residence in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy. Sanjay Singh is the third AAP leader to be arrested. His colleagues, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, are in jail in separate cases.
When questioned about Arvind Kejriwal's accusations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi following Singh's arrest, Thakur responded by saying, “Arvind Kejriwal's claims have elicited laughter from the public, and his anxiety is evident. These are the same individuals who initially championed the 'India against corruption' slogan but have since become embroiled in corrupt practices.”
In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ascended to power, but within two months, the state's health minister had to step down due to corruption, said the BJP leader.
"Kejriwal ji has failed to provide any explanation regarding the liquor scandal that has tarnished his reputation. While the deputy chief minister and others from Delhi have been incarcerated, the mastermind behind it remains at large. The investigation is ongoing, and the mastermind will also face consequences," Thakur asserted.
Thakur also questioned Kejriwal's authority to distribute "certificates of honesty" to individuals who have been in jail for the past year, adding, "Who granted him the authority to issue such certificates? The media's next headline will determine whose turn is next."
Thakur took a jibe at the Congress governments in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, both of which are approaching assembly elections. He mentioned that officers closely associated with the chief ministers in these states have faced serious corruption allegations, with large sums of money and gold being seized from them. Thakur emphasized that they should have resigned but have not yet done so, and he anticipated that the upcoming assembly elections would result in their removal from power.
