Happy New Year Eve 2024 Live Updates: After New Zealand and Australia welcomed the new year with dazzling fireworks and light shows, Japan, Seoul South Korea followed suit. Meanwhile in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his last “Mann Ki Baat” of the year, batted for continuing India’s momentum in the coming year, reminding the citizens of the numerous achievements of the country in 2023. 

 

 “India is brimming with self-confidence, imbued with the spirit of a developed India and the spirit of self-reliance. We have to maintain the same spirit and momentum in 2024 as well,” the Prime Minister said. Russian President Vladimir Putin too, had a New Year’s message for PM Modi and President Murmu — “despite the difficult international situation, the special and privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India continues to develop dynamically.”

 

Countdown begins: India and the world is preparing to usher in 2024 with pomp and show, as the threat of Coronavirus, that dampened the spirits the previous years, looks to have waned to a big extent. The Pacific nation of Kiribati will be the first country to greet the new year, with its clock ticking into 2024 one hour ahead of neighbours including New Zealand.
