Bagmati CM Kiran Thapa Magar wins vote of confidence
KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar successfully secured a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly, receiving 57 votes in his favor—four more than the 53 needed in the 104-member assembly.
He won the crucial vote with support from 24 lawmakers of CPN (UML), 26 from the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and 7 from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Although internal power-sharing disputes within the ruling coalition and a counter-whip issued by RPP Chief Whip Kumari Tamang briefly caused uncertainty, a six-point agreement signed among the three ruling parties shortly before the meeting paved the way for the vote.
Defying central party instructions and official whips, seven RPP parliamentarians voted to support the Chief Minister, granting the coalition government immediate political stability
