Russian ballerina to perform with Nepali dancers in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU: Russian ballerina Ekaterina Chernykh, a former performer at Russia’s Bolshoi Theatre, will perform with Nepali dancers in “Rhythm and Soul” in Kathmandu on August 31 to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Nepal.
Organized by the Sushila Arts Academy, the gala will be held at the DAV Auditorium. Chernykh will also conduct ballet master classes for Nepali teachers and students at the Russian House in Kathmandu on August 29.
Chernykh has performed in more than 70 countries and created over 300 choreographic works spanning classical ballet, jazz and modern dance. She will also lead workshops aimed at strengthening the skills of Nepali choreography teachers.
The Sushila Arts Academy, founded in 2012 by Yulia Koirala, has staged “Rhythm and Soul” annually since 2013 and previously collaborated with the Russian House on performing arts projects. Russia and Nepal established diplomatic relations in 1956.
