Carla Guevara-Laforteza opens up about life of daughter, KATSEYE's Sophia, while on hiatus

Carla Guevara-Laforteza opened up about how her daughter, KATSEYE member Sophia Laforteza, has been spending her time while on hiatus and prioritizing her mental well-being.

“At present, Sophia is on hiatus. She goes to Disneyland every day; she’s baking, she’s painting. She’s literally doing everything to get mentally well," she said.

In the same interview, Carla also spoke about how she supports her children as a mother, saying she wants to give them the freedom to pursue what makes them happy while reassuring them that she will always be there for them.

“I’ll be here to catch you when you fall. Anytime you can come home, anytime you can call me, but I want you to find your own happiness," she stated.

HYBE x Geffen (HxG) announced on August 7 that Sophia “will be temporarily unable to participate in upcoming promotional activities” as she steps away to focus on her recovery.

According to the company, Sophia was advised by medical professionals to take “dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery.”

"While Sophia herself is eager to perform alongside her members, the health, safety, and long-term well-being of our artists will always remain our highest priority," the agency stated.

Sophia later reached out to their fans, EYEKONS, through a personal message posted on her Instagram Stories.

“It truly breaks my heart to have to miss out on a lot. You know how much I love being on stage, performing, and sharing these moments with you. Making this decision wasn't easy, but I'm learning that health has to come first. I'm realizing that if I don't take care of my mind and body now, I won't be able to keep doing what I love the most for so long,” she wrote.  

She added: “Thank you for being so patient, understanding, and always showing me so much love. It means more to me than I could ever say. I promise I'm going to work as hard as I can to get through this, heal properly, and come back stronger.”  

While taking time away from activities, Sophia also encouraged fans to continue showing their support for KATSEYE.

“'Til then, please continue to be kind and give KATSEYE all your love and support as we fulfill our promise to show up for you in every way we can. I'll be here as one of the EYEKONS in the meantime with y'all, See you soon,” she remarked.
