American preacher Confronts Narok Vendor Over Ksh. 200 Roasted Maize In Viral Moment

American preacher Quan Lanae Green found herself in an unexpected roadside confrontation after a roasted maize vendor charged her Ksh. 200 for a single cob along the Mai Mahiu highway.

Quan captured the encounter on camera from inside a Prado as she questioned the vendor, who identified himself as Joseph.

The video, shared on Monday, August 24, quickly drew attention online because of the humorous exchange between the preacher and the seller.

The situation began after Green bought a roasted maize from Joseph for Ksh. 200.

Her driver, Timothy, had already told her that the maize should cost considerably less. Timothy said the usual price was around Ksh. 20, while another vendor at the same roadside stand said the maize should cost about Ksh. 40.

That information prompted Green to question Joseph about the price.

    “But how much are you supposed to sell it for? My driver said 20 shillings,” Green asked.

Another vendor then appeared to support her argument, saying the maize should cost Ksh. 40.

    “You charged us 200,” Green pointed out during the exchange.

Joseph did not immediately concede that he had overcharged Green.

Instead, he argued that roasted maize could sell for much more, claiming that a cob could even fetch Ksh. 1,000 or Ksh. 2,000.

The roadside exchange also drew reactions from Instagram users, with some finding the interaction amusing while others pointed to the issue of foreigners sometimes being charged more at tourist or roadside spots.

Green turns confrontation into promotion

Rather than continuing the disagreement or demanding her money back, Green proposed another solution.

She asked Joseph to give her another cob for free in exchange for promoting his roadside business on her platform.

Joseph agreed and handed her a complimentary piece of maize.

He then used the opportunity to advertise his stall, telling viewers that they could find him along the Mai Mahiu road.

The encounter ended on a lighter note, with Joseph inviting Green to return.
