Fresh case against Chandrababu Naidu over 'permission' to illegal liquor firms

Currently, Naidu is in judicial custody at the Rajamahendravaram central prison due to allegations of financial misappropriation involving the Skill Development Corporation.

Andhra Pradesh's Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday registered another case against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu based on allegations of granting "illegal permissions" to liquor companies in the state.

Chandrababu Naidu has been included as accused number 3 in this case, which also falls under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

The CID formally filed a petition in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court, and the court has granted permission for this CID action. This is the fourth case filed against the TDP chief by the CID.

Currently, Naidu is in judicial custody at the Rajamahendravaram central prison due to allegations of financial misappropriation involving the Skill Development Corporation. These accusations are believed to have caused a reported loss of more than Rs 300 crore to the state treasury.

Earlier in the day, High Court dismissed three bail petitions filed by Telugu Desam Party chief in different cases filed by the CID. Naidu had moved the court seeking regular bail petitions in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road and Angallu attack cases and an anticipatory bail petition in the FiberNet case.

The Amaravati Inner Ring Road case revolves around allegations of "manipulating" the master plan of Amaravati's capital city, as well as the alignment of the inner ring road and the seed capital. These alleged actions were claimed to provide unjust enrichment to numerous companies during Naidu's tenure.

The Angallu case is connected to the riots which took place during a political rally taken out by the TDP chief in August this year.

Meanwhile, the FiberNet case is linked to allegations of tampering with tenders in the assignment of a work order for Phase-1 of the AP FiberNet Project, valued at Rs 330 crore, in favor of a specific company.
