Limbs tied, body wrapped in plastic: Delhi man arrested for Swiss woman's murder
The accused murderer was in a relationship with the Swiss woman and suspected her of having an affair. He invited her to India and planned her murder, police said.
The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old Swiss woman, whose body was recovered from West Delhi's Tilak Nagar area. The hands and legs of the body were tied with metal chains, while its upper portion was covered with a black plastic bag, police said.
The accused, identified as Gurpreet Singh, was in a relationship with the 30-year-old woman he had met in Switzerland, police said. He suspected that she was having an affair with someone else and therefore killed her.
The two were in a long-distance relationship and Gurpreet would often visit Switzerland to see her, police said. However, because of his suspicions about her affair, he asked the woman to visit India this time and planned her murder.
Initial interrogation revealed that the accused tied the woman's limbs on the pretext of performing a magic trick on her, and then killed her.
The body was found near a government school in the Tilak nagar area on Friday morning, police said. With the help of CCTV camera footage, police found out that the body was brought there in a car.
"The registration number was accessed, and a team traced the vehicle's owner. The owner said she had sold the car two months ago," an official said.
Gurpreet was eventually traced and arrested. Officials also recovered Rs 2.25 crore from his house. Further investigations are underway.
