He stated that an investigation is underway and further details will be available upon its completion. Disturbing scenes from the convention centre showed multiple fires and people in fear.
In the aftermath of the explosion, hundreds of people were seen outside the convention centre. Health Minister Veena George ordered all health workers on leave to return immediately and directed the Directors of the Health Department and Medical Education Department to provide the best possible treatment for those injured in the explosion.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President K Sudhakaran lashed out at Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan over the serial blasts in Ernakulam that killed one, and injured over 40 this morning.
"The Kalamassery blast is shocking and there has been a serious failure on the side of the home department and intelligence. In a state like Kerala, making a bomb and planting it requires a clear plan. There was a serious lapse on the side of intelligence in detecting this," Sudhakaran said.
He also accused the Kerala Home department of a lack of vigilance. He sought action against those behind the incident and compensation for the families of those injured or killed in the blasts.
