A 180-run stand for the second wicket between Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson formed the base for New Zealand's massive total against Babar Azam's side. With rain-threat looming in the second innings of the match, New Zealand knew that they had to score a big total after being sent to bat first.

Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra started off aggressively and put in 68 runs for the first wicket inside 11 overs. After Conway's departure, Kane Williamson took the onus on himself and attacked the Pakistan pacers. On his return from injury, Williamson smashed 95 off just 79 balls, and got out in the 35th over, trying to clear the long-off boundary off the bowling of Iftikhar Ahmed.

By this time, Rachin Ravindra had already completed this third century of the tournament, continuing his sensational rise. The 2019 finalists piled on pressure with aggressive cameos from Daryl Mitchell (29 off 18), Mark Chapman (39 off 27) and Glenn Phillips (41 off 25).

Pakistan were able to take wickets regularly in the final 10 overs, but could not check the run-flow. wo massive sixes from Mitchell Santner at the end of the innings propelled the New Zealand total to 400+ runs in the game.

Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi went wicket-less and gave away 90 runs, while Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf also returned with expensive figures. Mohammed Wasim Jr was Pakistan's best bowler on the day, picking up 3 wickets off 60 runs from his 10 overs.
